Lahore Qalandar have showed the other teams that their tournament is not over yet as they edged one of the best teams of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) so far Peshawar Zalmi by just 4 runs to grab their second win and kept their hopes of reaching Eliminator alive.
Zalmi had won only 1 of their previous 5 games so it was very important for them to win this game. They have got four points now and are level with Karachi Kings and Islamabad United who have also got two wins each. Lahore vs Islamabad may prove out to be the decided.
Lahore did not get off to a good start against Peshawar as their opener Chris Gayle was dismissed by Junaid Khan for a duck once again. Cameron Delport was fantastic once again and Captain Azhar Ali had a start but could not score more than 25 again as Lahore were 57/2 in 8.5 overs.
But then Umar Akmal and Cameron Delport had a massive partnership of 101 off 64 balls to make their team's position very strong. Delport scored 78 off 61 balls whereas Akmal scored 52 off 31 balls to help his side score 164/3 in 20 overs. Junaid Khan took 2 wickets.
Peshawar needed someone to score 50 and any pair to have 50 runs partnership but nobody could provide that. Some of their players got starts but Tamim Iqbal got out after scoring 30 whereas Dawid Malan top scored with 42 runs. Kevon Cooper and Cameron Delport got three wickets each as they restricted Peshawar to 160/7 in 20 overs.
