Karachi Kings have defeated their rivals Lahore Qalandars for the second time in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to give the clear message that the first win was not a fluke and as Ravi Bopara had a great game by scoring 71 runs off 43 balls and then picked up 6 wickets.
Both cities have an old rivalry as Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan and Lahore is the second biggest. Lahore captain Azhar Ali decided to sit out to do some rest as West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was leading the side whereas Chris Gayle was back after missing two games.
Lahore won the toss and elected to field first. Karachi openers gave their side a good start as their captain Shoaib Malik decided to lead from the front. Malik and Nauman Anwar added 54 off just 40 balls. Nauman Anwar scored 35 off 25 balls by hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours.
Shoaib Malik scored 27 off 25 but the show was stolen by Ravi Bopara who scored 71 off 43 balls with help of 4 sixes and 3 fours. Karachi scored 178/5 in 20 overs as Zafar Gohar and Zohaib Khan took 2 wickets each. But in reply Lahore openers were also in form.
Chris Gayle scored 37 off 28 balls with 2 sixes whereas Cameron Delport scored 55 off 39 balls with two sixes. Delport was stumped and then Bopara conceded 16 runs in 4 overs and took 6 wickets. Due to his brilliance Lahore could score only 151/8 in 20 overs and fell 28 runs short.
