Islamabad United have got their second successive victory in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as Australian all-rounder Shane Watson and Pakistani batsman Sharjeel Khan played brilliant knock and helped Islamabad chase the target with 25 balls to spare and 8 wickets in hand.
Islamabad had lost first two games against Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi but have bounced back strongly as they have won against Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars. The Qalandars are now on the bottom of the table as they are only side to lose three matches.
The United won the toss and elected to field first in Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Lahore opener Cameron Delport was dismissed after scoring just 3 runs. Captain Azhar Ali Naved Yasin and Umar Akmal scored 27, 25 and 23 respectively as they were 89/4 after 12.3 overs.
But then Muhammad Rizwan and Dwayne Bravo had 60 runs partnership off just 37 balls. Bravo scored 26 and Rizwan remained not out on 50 off 27 balls to help Lahore score 166/6 in 20 overs, which was the second biggest total of tournament and looked like a good score.
The Islamabad batsmen had other ideas as they made it look like a very small total with their hitting. Watson hit 7 sixes and 4 fours to score 79 runs off 47 balls whereas Sharjeel hit 7 sixes and 5 fours to score 79 off 43 balls. Sharjeel remained not out till the end as they reached the total in the 16th over.
