Islamabad finally on board after edging Karachi Kings

Islamabad United team have finally won their first game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as Saeed Ajmal showed his magic once and picked up three wickets as they defeated the Karachi Kings who succumbed to their second consecutive loss after winning the opening game.

There was Tennis Star, Women's Doubles World No.1 Sania Mirza sitting in the crowd to support her husband Shoaib Malik who is the captain of the Karachi Kings side. On the other hand Shaneira Akram, the Australian wife of Wasim Akram was also there.

Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to field first, as most of the matches in this league were won by teams batting second. The move almost worked as Islamabad had a batting collapse and from 76/1 in 11.2 overs, they went to 123/8 in 19.3 overs and none of the players scored fifty.

Shane Watson scored 13, Sharjeel Khan scored 28, Khalid Latif was top scorer with 39 whereas Misbah-ul-Haq scored just 4 runs. Ravi Bopara took 2 wickets as Islamabad finished at 132/8 in 20 overs, but even that modest total looked too much for Karachi.

Both openers James Vince and Lendl Simmons failed whereas their captain Shoaib Malik also could not enter the double figures. Imad Wasim and Shakib Al Hasan scored 29 and 20 respectively and at the end Bopara tried his best as he scored 32 but they fell just 2 runs short.
