Queta Gladiators had entered the event as the dark horses but two days after the tournament begin, they have gone to the top of table with two wins in two matches, after beating one of the favourites Karachi United by 8 wickets Ahmed Shehzad scored 71 off 46 balls while chasing.
The Gladiators had luck on their side as they won the toss and elected to field first. Their spinners had made the life difficult for the Islamabad United batsmen and once again Zulfiqar Babar, Muhammad Nawaz and Muhammad Nabi bowled very tightly.
Karachi opener Nauman Anwar was dismissed early again as Anwar Ali got his wicket for golden duck. Youngster Muhammad Nawaz got the wicket of Lendl Simmons who had scored fifty against Lahore Qalandar in the first game. England's James Vince batted steadily and scored 30.
But Afghanistan's Muhammad Nabi got his wicket which brought Shoaib Malik and Ravi Bopara to the crease who had 69 runs partnership. Malik scored 37 runs off 25 balls whereas Bopara scored 40 runs off 29 balls as Karachi finished the innings on 147/7 in 20 overs.
Luke Wright and Shehzad opened for Gladiators and had 92 runs opening partnership. Wright, who scored fifty yesterday got out after scoring 47 and Shehzad scored 71.Kevin Pietersen remained not out on 29 and Sarfraz scored 2 as Gladiators chased the total with 16 balls to spare.
