Karachi Kings have won their first game of their Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign as they defeated one of the best teams Lahore Qalandars in a very one-sided game by 7 wickets as Muhammad Amir made the headlines once again by taking a hat-trick.
The Karachi captain Shoaib Malik, who had led Pakistan to the final of the 2007 World T20 and has won National T20 competition while leading Sialkot team many times, made the right decision of fielding first after winning the toss and he wanted to see Chris Gayle.
They got rid of the big man early as Chris Gayle could score only 6 off 4 balls as Captain Malik himself got his wicket. Azhar Ali, Cameron Delport and Sohaib Maqsood got starts but they could not do score big as they were dismissed for 18, 17 and 22 respectively.
In the second last over of the innings Muhammad Amir got a hat-trick and did not let Lahore score big total. They were reduced to 125/8 in 20 overs and even that looked like a big score when Karachi lost their first two wickets Nauman Anwar and James Vince for 4 runs.
But then Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan and West Indian batsman Lendl Simmons totally dominated the bowlers and had century partnership. The West Indian al-rounder Dwayne Bravo dropped Shakib and he went on to score 51. Simmons and Malik were not out on 62 and 12 respectively as they took their side over the line.
