The Pakistani captain feels they could have defended the total

Azhar Ali thinks they were 30-40 runs short while batting

The captain of Pakistan's One-Day International (ODI) team Azhar Ali has said that they were probably 30-40 runs short while batting but the 290 runs total was not bad and they could have defended it successfully but at the end the luck was not on their side.

Pakistan were 215/3 at one stage it looked like they will score around 340-350 when Muhammad Hafeez, Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik were playing but they had a collapse and their lower order batsmen and tail-enders could not contribute much.

Azhar said that they lost some quick wickets towards the which did not help their cause and he felt that things were going right for them even when they were bowling but they were not able to finish it the way they wanted and they ended up losing the series.

The captain has won just two series against Zimbabwe in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka since taking the job and has lost against Bangladesh in Bangladesh and England in United Arab Emirates (UAE). They had drawn against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe.
