Pakistan U-19 team off to a winning start in World Cup

The 2004 and 2006 Champions Pakistan Under-19 team have got off to a winnin start in the 2016 ICC Under-19 as they defeated the Afghanistan team by 6 wickets in the opening match after bowling out their neighbours for 126 runs in Sylhet Stadium.

Pakistani captain Gauhar Hafeez won the toss and elected to field first. They did not have to wait much for the first wicket as Afghanistan opener Naveed Obaid was bowled in the fourth over by Hassan Mohsin. Naveed Obaid failed to score a run.

Afghani captain Ihsanullah was the next one to go back as he could score just one run. He was also dismissed by Hassan Mohsin and the bowler got his third wicket in his next over when he dismissed the other opener Karim Janat who got out after scoring 27.

Tariq Stanikzai resisted against Pakistani bowlers and scored 53 as he shared 69 runs partnership with Ikram Faizi who scored 19, but after them nobody else scored in double figures and they lost last 6 wickets for 15 runs and were bowled out for 126. Shadab Khan picked up 4 wickets for Pakistan.

Pakistani captain Gauhar Hafeez was dismissed after scoring just one run but after him Zeeshan Malik and Muhammad Umar scored 29 and 25 to keep Pakistan going. Hassan Mohsin remained not out on 28 as he took Pakistan over the line 31.3 overs and was named man of the match.
