Peshawar Zalmi have gone to the top of the table in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and also booked their spot in the playoffs of the competition as they took revenge and defeated the Quetta Gladiators by 8 wickets and will face the same opposition in the playoff game.
Quetta had beaten Peshawar earlier in the tournament and were on the top of the table with 5 wins and 10 points. Peshawar were second with 4 wins and 8 points. Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat first which looked like a good decision when openers started.
Asad Shafiq and Ahmed Shehzad were looking in great touch as they scored 40 off 25 balls but then Wahab Riaz bowled Shehzad. Sri Lankan legendary bastman Kumara Sangakkara was dismissed for a duck by Wahab in the same over whereas then Shahid Afridi's show started.
Peshawar and Pakistan captain Afridi was in amazing form as he got 5 wickets by conceding just 7 runs in his 4 overs. Quetta lost 9 wickets for 26 runs and were 66/9 when Grant Elliott and Zulfiqar Babar had highest ever 10th wicket T20 partnership to take their side to a decent total.
Elliott scored 40 off 29 balls whereas Babar scored 20 off 11 as they were bowled out for 129 in 18 overs. In reply Peshawar openers Muhammad Hafeez and Dawid Malan were very cool and calm as they had 60 runs partnership. It ended when Hafeez was dismissed after scoring 36.
Malan kept going and had 54 runs partnership with Kamran Akmal who scored 17. Malan scored 60 runs off 52 balls and remained not out. Shahid Yousuf was with him on the crease on 3 runs as they won with 8 balls to spare. Zulfiqar Babar and Muhammad Nawaz were wicket-takers from Gladiators.
