The Leo Lions have reached the final of the Masters Champions League (MCL) and will be looking to take the revenge against Gemini Arabians in the final after beating the Virgo Super Kings by just 17 runs in a low scoring game as Virgo could get only 122 while chasing 140 target.
Former West Indian skipper Brian Lara (Leo Lions captain) won the toss and elected to bat first which did not look like a very good decision at first. Both openers Neil Carter and Hamish Marshall were dismissed inside 3 overs when the team's total was just 20 runs.
That brought New Zealand's James Franklin to the crease who has been in a great form in whole tournament. None of the other batsmen scored more than 20 but Franklin remained on the crease till the end and scored 65 runs off 48 balls with 3 sixes to help his side score 139/7.
Brett Lee took 3 wickets for Virgo but their batsmen were not in good touch except their captain Graeme Smith. Neil McKenzie, Humayun Farhat and Azhar Mahmood scored just 1, 4 and 4 respectively as Virgo were 18/3 in 3.4 overs but then they had a fifty partnership.
Hasan Raza scored just 19 off 29 balls but stayed there with Smith who scored 39 off 32 balls. But when Smith got out when team's score was 69, none of the batsmen after him scored more than 20 and as a result they could score only 122/9 in 20 overs. Kyle Jarvis took 3 wickets for Leo Lions.
