Gemini keep their winning run going in Masters Champions League

The Gemini Arabians have kept their 100% winning record going in the Masters Champions League (MCL) as they defeated the Virgo Super Kings by 22 runs in their last game of the group stage and have qualified for the semifinals as the table toppers with 10 points.

Gemini had already booked their place in the semifinals so they rested the veteran spinners Mutthiah Muralitharan and Saqlain Mushtaq. Captain Virendar Sehwag who had scored century in the previous game played but did not bat as he wanted to give a chance to others.

The Super Kings are fighting to qualify for the semifinals and a win would have brought them into the second place as they had won 2 out of 3 games. But luck was once again on Gemini's side who won the toss and elected to bat first. In-form Kumar Sangakkara opened.

The former Sri Lankan batsman scored his fourth fifty of the event as he is also the top scorer. Saqib Ali of UAE scored 46 but they missed Sehwag's power and were restricted to 144/5 in 20 overs. Jacob Oram and Malinga Bandara took two wickets each for Virgo.

In reply Kyle Mills got the wicket of former South African captain Graeme Smith early and Owais Shah, Azhar Mahmood were also dismissed for single digit scores. Neil McKenzie and Hasan Raza had a 43 runs partnership to bring their side back in the game but they could score only 122/6 in 20 overs.
