The Virgo Super Kings have edged the Libra Legends by just 5 runs in the Masters Champions League as former South African captain Graeme Smith led his team from the front and scored a fifty to guide his side to 168 runs total and restricted Libra to 163.
Graeme Smith won the toss and elected to bat first. His former opening partner Neil McKenzie had 44 runs opening partnership with him in 6 overs. McKenzie was bowled by former Australian spinner Brad Hogg after scoring 26 runs off 23 balls as he hit 2 sixes.
After him Smith kept going and scored a fifty to take his side above 100. Azhar Mahmood and Owais Shah played little cameos to assist Smith. The former South African captain was dismissed after scoring 168/5 in 20 overs. Jacob Oram and Hasan Raza also scored in double figures.
Brad Hogg took 3 wickets as he bowled 4 overs and gave just 12 runs but Andy McKay gave 50 runs in 4 overs. In reply another former South African legend Jacques Kallis gave his side a great start as he also scored 48 runs and fell just 2 runs short of his fifty.
His opening partner Michael Lumb scored a fifty. They had century opening partnership and after Kallis Netherlands' Ryan ten Doeschate scored 42 runs off 23 balls. But after him others could not finish well and Brett Lee bowled a brilliant over to win the game for his team.
