The final list of players, who will be available in this season’s IPL auction, has been released. The original list that had over 700 player names has now been trimmed to 351 names, including not only Indian and foreign player names, but also a couple of players from Associate countries as well. From within these numbers, up to 116 players can be bought in the IPL auction that will be held on 6th February.
Amongst these 351 players, those who have been included as a part of the marquee line-up in this year’s auction are Yuvraj Singh, Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma, Martin Guptill, Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch, Shane Watson and Kevin Pietersen. Within these players, Sharma, Singh and Pietersen are also amongst the 12 players, who have been accorded the highest base price of INR 20 million going into the auction.
The other eight names that have the highest base price, but haven’t been included in the marquee categorisation include Dinesh Karthik, Ashish Nehra, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mitchell Marsh, Kane Richardson and Michael Hussey. All these players have a base price of INR 20 million.
Amongst the eight teams, the Delhi Daredevils have the maximum amount available for purchase of players in the auction after having letting go 13 players from their squad, including Yuvraj Singh, who was their most expensive buy last year for INR 1.5 billion.
As it stands, the Daredevils have around INR 3.715 billion remaining in their purse, followed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have an available purse of INR 3.015 billion. The newly created Pune and Rajkot teams have INR 2.7 billion each, while Kings XI Punjab are next with an availability of INR 2.3 billion. Royal Challengers Bangalore have an available purse of INR 2.162 billion. Lastly, the Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians have an available purse of INR 1.795 and 1.44 billion respectively.
