The captain of the South African Cricket team Ab De Villiers has predicted that the English side will be very strong in the future and they will be one of the favourites in the Champions Trophy 2017 and ICC World Cup in 2019, although they are a very young and rising side.
South Africa survive a scare against England at home, as Proteas lost the Test Series 2-1 and were 0-2 down in the One-Day International (ODI) Series, but they made a miraculous comeback and won all three remaining matches, although England had chances in them too.
England could have become first team since Australia in 2002 to come to South Africa win both ODI and Test Series. They had made 318 in the third game, were only 2 wickets away from the win in the fourth game and had South Africa 22/3 after making 236 in the series decider.
De Villiers said that the English captain Eoin Morgan has to be given credit for all of his efforts in the series and he made the team fight very well even though Morgan scored just 64 runs in 5 games at an average of 12.80 and his highest score in the whole series was 29.
Morgan had the very positive body language in De Villiers' opinion and he will be key to their success in future, as they are in a building process. They will host both mega events in the future and their performance in South Africa suggests De Villiers could be right.
