The Director of the England Cricket Board (ECB) Andrew Strauss has told that the England's 2010 T20 winning captain Paul Collingwood and former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene will be with the coaching team for the World T20 Championship in India.
Mahela Jayawardene has been very successful in the World T20 Championship as a player as he reached the final of 2009 and 2012 Championship. He finally signed off after winning the tournament in 2014. He had also worked with the English team last year.
On the other hand Collingwood was also part of the coaching team for the series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The team was very successful in the limited overs matches on that tour as they won the T20 series 3-0 and One-Day International series 3-1.
Strauss said that they are very happy to have both of them with the team for the mega event as players were very satisfied with them. Mahela Jayawardene has played a lot of matches in India as well, so he knows the conditions and can tell players about it as well.
England are in the group with Sri Lanka so Jayawardene would also know secrets of his former team and weaknesses of players. The other teams in their group are 2012 World Champions West Indies and South Africa. One team will qualify and join them.
