The captain of the England Test Cricket Team Alastair Cook has praised the all-rounder Ben Stokes and said that they are lucky to have him in the team as he performed exceptionally in the test series against South Africa and was named man of the series.
Stokes had scored more than 400 runs in the 4 match test series against South Africa and the thing that makes his performance even more appreciable is the fact that it was an away series but in the recent past England have not had players who played well abroad.
England had not beaten South Africa in last three series but Stokes was not only great with the bat, but with the ball and in the field as well. Cook said that he is the centre point on the team as the team is balanced because of him and revolves around him.
Stokes was injured in the series against Pakistan and they missed him badly as they lost the series 2-0 against the Asian side in United Arab Emirates (UAE) but he scored 250 runs against South Africa in the second test and also took 4 wickets in one innings.
Cook also knows that Stokes' aggressive batting costs them a wicket sometimes but he is still happy as he can win the game on his own sometimes. He said that even if he gets caught near boundary sometimes they will let him play his natural game.
