Following Mitchell McClenaghan’s injury that saw him being ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against Pakistan, the New Zealanders have brought Doug Bracewell to take the pacer’s place in the team.
The 25-year old Bracewell was a part of the Kiwi ODI team that played Sri Lanka in the latter end of the 2015 season. He’s played 12 ODIs in his career since making his debut in 2011 and has picked 16 wickets with best bowling figures of 3/31.
McClenaghan, who’s suffered a fracture to the bone above his left eye, is scheduled for a micro surgery on Friday in Auckland. The second and third ODI matches against Pakistan are to be played in Napier and Auckland on the 28th and 31st January respectively.
McClenaghan is the fourth player to be missing out of action for the hosts after Brendon McCullum, who’s however scheduled to play the last two matches, Tim Southee and Ross Taylor.
