Australian Cricket Team is very close to becoming the World No.1 Test side but the captain Steven Smith believes that the big challenge will be to keep the ranking and for that they will have to do hard work as all the teams are hunting to beat the best side in the world.
The Aussies are leading the series 1-0 against New Zealand in New Zealand, whereas only one match in left. Australians have 109 points at the point, only one less than India, who are on top. If Australia win the second test they will go on top with 112 points, 2 more than India.
Even if Australia draw the second test they will have one point more than India, but a loss would bring them down to 109, in the third place just behind South Africa. But the way tourists won the first test by an innings and 52 runs against New Zealand their chances look good.
Smith said that they will have to prepare very well for the Test Series against Sri Lanka in few months. Sri Lankan pitches would offer less help for Australian fast bowlers and they will have to prepare their spinners for the test. Nathan Lyon and Steven O'Keefe are being prepared for that.
Sri Lanka have only 89 points in the Test Ranking and are in the seventh place, so even if Australia draw against them, Aussies will lose many important points. Sri Lanka has not beaten Australia in a Test Series since 1999 and Australia won 1-0 in 3-match series when they toured Sri Lanka in 2011.
